Temporary Electric Service
Service to any electrical installation for a period of less than 3 years shall be considered as "temporary electric service".
Temporary electric service is available provided the customer pays a fee for installing and removing the facilities required to provide the requested service.
The fee for temporary service shall include all installation and removal costs in accordance with the rates shown below plus any non-recoverable material costs.
RATES| 1. | Standard 120/240 volt single-phase electric service connected directly from existing permanent electrical facilities. (no spans, poles, transformer) | $ 50.00 |
| 2. | Install and remove secondary span. | $100.00 |
| 3. | Install and remove secondary pole & secondary span. | $200.00 |
| 4. | Install and remove single phase transformer. | $200.00 |
| 5. | Install and remove secondary span, pole & single phase transformer. | $400.00 |
| 6. | Temporary service requiring additional construction not covered in items 1-5. | Contact OPU Engineering |
All above charges are subject to applicable State and City sales taxes.
Service and Connection Fees
The electric service and connection fees are to be charged for the connection of a new electrical service to the distribution system of the Owatonna Public Utilities. This applies to all services, whether overhead or underground, made inside or outside the city limits of Owatonna. The connection fee is to cover, in part, the installation of overhead or underground 12.5 kV, 7.2 kV, 4kV, or 2.4 kV distribution systems. The service fee is to cover, in part, the installation of an individual service. The service line to the point of service is owned and maintained by O.P.U..

Overhead Connection Fee - $125.00
Underground Connection Fee - $275.00
Cost for Underground Service Installation - $225.00
Cost for Overhead Service Installation - $125.00
NOTE: On underground the customer provides ditching, conduit and backfilling of ditch as per OPU specifications.
